Application

This procedure applies to all the Community Colleges within the Colorado Community College System (CCCS).

Basis

Board policy states that providing a safe learning and working environment throughout the State System of Community Colleges is of paramount importance. The Colleges and the System Office shall take measures reasonably necessary to plan for emergencies and promote the safety of students, employees, facilities and property throughout the system. Accordingly, the colleges and the system office must adopt and implement a written Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) to address specific hazards and circumstances that constitute an emergency for staff, faculty, students, and property.

Procedure

Each College and the System Office must:

  1. Implement and keep current an EOP;
  2. The EOP must serve as a guide for emergency management and shall coordinate all phases of emergency response in order to minimize the impacts of disasters and incidents, to protect people and property, and to restore any interruptions to College operations;
  3. Each College and the System Office shall review and update their plans at least annually;
  4. Each College and the System Office shall conduct regular training exercises as part of their emergency response preparations.

Revising this Procedure

CCCS reserves the right to change any provision or requirement of this procedure at any time and the change shall become effective immediately.
