The mission of the Community Colleges shall be to serve Colorado residents who reside in their service areas by offering a broad range of general, personal, career, and technical education programs. The Community Colleges shall not impose admission requirements upon any student; however, admission to a Community College does not guarantee enrollment in a specific program that has prerequisites.
The objectives of the Community and Technical Colleges shall be to provide educational programs to fill the occupational needs of youth and adults in career and technical fields; two-year transfer educational programs to qualify students for admission to the junior year at other Colleges and Universities; basic skills; workforce development; concurrent enrollment for college-ready high school students; a broad range of personal and career education for adults; technical, career, and workforce development Bachelor of Applied Science degree programs; and Bachelor of Science in Nursing completion degree that address the needs of the community within each Community College service area.
Each Community College may offer two-year degree programs with or without academic designation, and, upon approval of the Board, may offer technical, career, and workforce development Bachelor of Applied Science degree programs, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing completion degree, in accordance with the requirements set forth in C.R.S. 23-60-211.
Additionally, pursuant to C.R.S. 23-60-211, Red Rocks Community College may offer a graduate program in physician assistant studies.
This Policy applies to all Community Colleges within the Colorado Community College System (CCCS or System).
The System Community Colleges are authorized to affiliate with the Higher Learning Commission.
The System Chancellor shall promulgate such procedures as may be needed to implement this Policy.
