As the state’s largest provider of higher education and career training, CCCS is a key player in that effort. The community colleges play a vital role in educating both the emerging and existing workforces, as well as meeting the needs of Colorado’s businesses and communities.

The community colleges drive the 21st-Century workforce development system in many ways:

  • Prepare individuals with basic and advanced skills to succeed in the 21st-Century knowledge economy
  • Offer training for career advancement in a fast-paced, ever-changing marketplace
  • Develop programs that meet the economic needs of communities and employers
  • Provide opportunities for low-wage workers to gain the education and skills  to move up the career ladder
