Throughout our country’s history, brave men and women have risked their lives to defend our nation and way of life. They have entered dangerous and hostile environments, managed unpredictable situations, and dutifully served as ambassadors for the United States of America. When our veterans return home, they continue to serve our country, bringing tremendous skills to their communities and to our workforce. As Americans, we owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to every service member who has ever worn our Nation’s uniforms during times of peace and war.

On Veteran’s Day we pause to honor those who have selflessly served to protect our country in past wars and who are currently serving. And as we pay tribute, we are mindful that no ceremony or parade can fully repay the sacrifices they have made to ensure our quality of life. I humbly and sincerely say thank you to the men and women who have served, continue to serve, and their families.

CCCS is fortunate to have hundreds of active and veteran service members among its institutions. There are more than 500 employees and 7,036 students across the System that have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. We value the tremendous contribution these individuals make every day, and we are proud to employ and provided higher education opportunities for such dedicated individuals.

This Veteran’s Day, please keep those deployed in your thoughts and take a moment to thank a service member for their contribution to our organization, community, state, and nation.

Happy Veterans Day,

Nancy J. McCallin, Ph.D., President
