Maria-Vittoria “Giugi” Carminati is a women’s advocate and intersectional feminist. In addition to being a speaker and writer on issues of gender bias and roles, she is at the helm of her own law firm, The Woman’s Lawyer, where she represents a variety of clients, with a particular focus on victimized community members. She practices business law, personal injury, family law, and civil protection orders. Based on her work and her personal experience, she knows how critical access to education is for a healthy society, especially for women, rural communities, and people of color. Through both her work and her community service she seeks ways to use her privilege to even the playing field.
She graduated Suma Cum Laude from University of Houston, and Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston’s Law Center. She later obtained her L.L.M. in Space, Cyber & Telecommunications Law from the University of Nebraska, School of Law. She has been published in numerous publications and co-authored a book about space law, “The Laws of Spaceflight: A Guidebook for New Space Lawyers.” Giugi is passionate about giving everyone the ability to fulfill their potential.
Giugi has been awarded several honors and recognitions, such as Order of the Coif, Barons, and Barristers, Texas Rising Star in 2014, 2015, and 2017, and Colorado Rising Star in 2018. She was also named Lawyer of the Year by Colorado Law Week in 2017. She speaks French, English, Italian, and Spanish.
