PWR describes the knowledge, skills, and behaviors essential for high school graduates to be prepared to enter higher education and the workforce, to compete in the global economy, develop consistent intellectual growth throughout their lifespan as a result of rigorous, relevant and intentional course sequencing.
Individual Career and Academic Planning (ICAPs)
An individualized career and academic plan is both a document and a process that engages students of any age in Meaningful Career Conversations (MCCs)– with support from school counselors, campus advisors, career services, teachers, faculty, family and/ or any identified caring adult/mentor/supervisor – to define their self-direction, academic & career goals and post-secondary plans in order to inform decisions about courses, activities, programs and employment as part of a life-long learning process.
Career and College Navigator Models
Two-To-Four Year Transfer Navigator – Colorado Policy, Analytics, and Learning at Scale (CO-PALS) Project
The COPALS Project is a partnership between CCCS and CSU-Global to develop strategies and resources to transition and support at-risk adult students into their baccalaureate degrees and career pathways by transferring to Colorado State University Global Campus. Strategies include individual career and academic planning (ICAP), intensive support services provided by career and college navigators, and degree program tracking.
Community College, Adult Education, and Workforce Center Advising Navigator – College and Career Navigation Initiative (CCNI)
With central goals of aligning workforce, adult, and career & technical education resources, as well as expanding the number of clients in their successful entry into college and completion of career-advancing certificates and degrees, the CCNI initiative employed transition strategies including career and college navigators and student individual career and academic planning (ICAP).
Adult Education College Readiness and Holistic Support Navigator – Colorado Success UNlimited (Colorado SUN) Initiative
The Colorado SUN college readiness resources provide a holistic approach designed to prepare GED graduates and academically under-prepared for college and careers by reducing remedial training and building confident, successful students through innovative academic and support strategies.
