Cyber Security

What is Cyber Security?

Many aspects of our lives rely on the Internet and computers, including communications, transportation, government, finance, medicine and education. Consider how much of your personal information is stored either on your own computer or on someone else’s system. You may wonder how that data and the systems on which that data resides, or is transmitted, is kept secure? As such it is then easy to understand that our students expect us to take due care with their Personal Private Information(PPI) as well as their Payment Card Information(PCI).

Cyber security involves protecting the information and systems we rely on every day. The increasing volume and sophistication of cyber security threats–including targeting phishing scams, data theft, and other online vulnerabilities–demand that we remain vigilant about securing our systems and information. While CCCS IT security uses a wide array of technology solutions to raise our level of security, the front line is each of the end users in our system.

Over the next few months the Colorado Community College System office’s division of Information Technology will be sharing tips on how to protect yourself and our system of colleges from cyber security threats. Thanks for your ongoing support.
