ACC’s Rachel Zinna Bellinsky receives prestigious PTK scholarship

Arapahoe Community College student Rachel Zinna Bellinsky has been selected as one of 10 nationwide recipients of the 2017 Pearson Scholarship for Higher Education by Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

Selected from a field of nearly 700 applicants, Bellinsky will receive a $5,000 scholarship and a commemorative medallion. This is the Society’s first renewable scholarship and mentorship program designated to support both associate and bachelor’s degree completion.

Bellinsky is serving as the Vice President of Special Events for ACC’s Sigma Phi Chapter of PTK during the 2017-18 academic year. She is also currently the ACC Student Government representative – serving as vice chair – on the State Student Advisory Committee (SSAC), as well as the student representative on the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE).

Bellinsky, who began her studies at ACC in Jan. 2016, is a work-study student in the Student Engagement Center, as well as an active member of the ACC Running Club. She plans to complete her Associate of General Studies in May 2018. Bellinsky intends to transfer to MSU Denver for her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, studying Social Work while completing her credentials in Dance Movement Therapy. She aspires to work in the mental health field, assisting women and girls with their recovery from abusive pasts.
