LITTLETON, Colo. (Feb. 7, 2018) – Arapahoe Community College will host a ceramics workshop with Julia Galloway on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-25, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. both days at the ACC Art & Design Center (Room AD1010).
During this workshop, which is sponsored by the ACC Foundation, Galloway will demonstrate making utilitarian pottery using wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques, as well as surface design using slips and resist. She will address developing a relationship between pottery form and surfaces, as well as idea development – including personal narratives and metaphor. Galloway will make a series of pouring pots and cups, and present slideshows of historic and contemporary pottery. Discussion and interaction with Galloway are encouraged at this workshop, which is open to all skill levels.
Galloway is a utilitarian potter and Professor of Art at the University of Montana. The recipient of a 2018 United States Artists Fellowship, she has exhibited widely across the U.S., Canada and Asia, and her work is in major museum and private collections. FULL BIO
