Applying for Scholarships

The Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges seeks to advance the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the Colorado Community College System. Specifically, the Foundation actively seeks contributions from public and private sources to make scholarships available statewide, advance key programmatic initiatives, provide training and support for CCCS college foundations, and develop partnerships with community stakeholders to implement state of the art programs that meet the workforce needs of the 21st century.

Thanks to generous donors, the Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges is able to offer several scholarship opportunities each year.

The application process for 2017-2018 academic year scholarships has closed. Applications are no longer being accepted.

The application process for 2018-2019 academic year scholarships will open in Spring 2018. More details and the application form will be available at that time.

This year we were pleased to be able to offer the scholarships listed below, which will support students during the 2017-2018 academic year.


Audrey D. and Harvey D. Rothenberg Scholarship

Established by Audrey D. and Harvey D. Rothenberg in 2016, one annual scholarship is awarded to a non-traditional student who is either attending or planning to attend a Colorado Community College System institution.

Rothenberg Scholarship details and application

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Intend to participate in a degree, certificate or transfer program at one of the following 13 Colorado community colleges: Arapahoe Community College, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver, Front Range Community College, Lamar Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Morgan Community College, Otero Junior College, Pikes Peak Community College, Pueblo Community College, Red Rocks Community College, Trinidad State Junior College; and
  • Be a non-traditional student.

Award: For the 2017/2018 academic year, one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.

Credit Union of Colorado Scholarship

Each year the Credit Union of Colorado, in conjunction with the Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges, offers scholarships to seven students who are members of the Credit Union of Colorado and are pursuing their education at one of the 13 CCCS colleges. Scholarships are available for both full-time and part-time students.

Credit Union of Colorado Scholarship details and application

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a member of the Credit Union of Colorado (cuofco.org);
  • Intend to participate in a degree, certificate or transfer programs at one of the following 13 Colorado community colleges: Arapahoe Community College, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver, Front Range Community College, Lamar Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Morgan Community College, Otero Junior College, Pikes Peak Community College, Pueblo Community College, Red Rocks Community College, Trinidad State Junior College;
  • Be enrolled in at least a half academic load each semester (minimum 6 credit hours)
  • Complete, and submit to their college, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.ed.gov); and
  • Be a United States citizen or have permanent residency.

Award: For the 2017/2018 academic year, three scholarships will be awarded at $1,500/academic year and four scholarships at $750/academic year.

Students who receive Credit Union of Colorado scholarships are eligible to apply for renewed scholarship funding, provided they have maintained a GPA of at least 2.5. Scholarship renewals are not guaranteed, and depend on funding, your application, and your status with your respective program. 


FleetPros Scholarship

The Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges is pleased to offer FleetPros Scholarships to students enrolled in an automotive program at a CCCS college. Students enrolled in any program in the Transportation, Distribution, & Logistics Cluster are encouraged to apply. Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, tools, or supplies. This scholarship was formerly known as the Rocky Mountain Fleet Management Association Scholarship.

FleetPros Scholarship details and application

FleetPros is a non-profit fleet industry association which strives to support fleet professionals through education, networking, and resources. FleetPros members have the opportunity to meet frequently with other fleet management professionals to exchange ideas and find solutions to common problems. The association also enjoys strong support from associate (supplier) members. These valued associates keep FleetPros fleet managers informed about the latest innovations and product developments. In return, suppliers are provided a positive environment to introduce their products and services and meet prospective clients. FleetPros believes in supporting new and young industry professionals. Colorado Community Colleges students are welcome to become members.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in an automotive program or any program in the Transportation, Distribution, & Logistics Cluster at one of the 13 Colorado community colleges: Arapahoe Community College, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver, Front Range Community College, Lamar Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Morgan Community College, Otero Junior College, Pikes Peak Community College, Pueblo Community College, Red Rocks Community College, Trinidad State Junior College

Last Mile Scholarship

Last Mile Scholarships are available for students who are within 15 credit hours (one semester) of graduating, enabling these students to focus on their studies, take additional classes, and graduate when it might otherwise not be possible.

Last Mile Scholarship details and application

Students receiving Last Mile Scholarships will meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Seeking an Associate’s degree at one of the 13 Colorado community colleges: Arapahoe Community College, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver, Front Range Community College, Lamar Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Morgan Community College, Otero Junior College, Pikes Peak Community College, Pueblo Community College, Red Rocks Community College, Trinidad State Junior College;
  • Enrolled full-time or part-time;
  • Have a maximum of 15 credit hours remaining to earn an Associate’s degree;
  • Be able to complete the degree in the semester in which the scholarship is sought;
  • Be in good academic standing (recent academic performance will be considered);
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0;
  • Complete and submit to their college a FAFSA;
  • Have unmet financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education (tuition, fees, books, and materials) in the range of $100-$2,000;
  • Have exhausted Pell eligibility or VA benefits or have a demonstrated hardship (academic, personal, health, etc.) or financial constraint (employment, etc.); and
  • Be a Colorado resident.

Award: In the range of $100-$2,000 as determined by financial aid

Stone Family Foundation Endowed Scholarship

Established by The Stone Family Foundation in 2012, this fund provides need-based scholarships to students who are either attending or planning to attend a Colorado Community College System institution. Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, books and required supplies.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Intend to participate in a degree, certificate or transfer programs at one of the following 12 Colorado community colleges: Arapahoe Community College, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Community College of Aurora, Front Range Community College, Lamar Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Morgan Community College, Otero Junior College, Pikes Peak Community College, Pueblo Community College, Red Rocks Community College, Trinidad State Junior College; and
  • Complete, and submit to their college, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.ed.gov).
  • Community College of Denver students –A separate application process exists for students who are either attending or planning to attend CCD.  If you are a CCD student interested in the Stone Family Foundation Endowed Scholarship, please contact the Community College of Denver Foundation.

Thomas T. Grimshaw Endowed Scholarship

The Thomas T. Grimshaw Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2009 in honor of Mr. Grimshaw’s longtime advocacy on behalf of the Colorado Community College System and his distinguished service on both the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education and the Foundation for Colorado Community College Board of Directors.  This fund provides need-based scholarships that can be used for tuition, fees, books and required supplies.

Grimshaw Scholarship details and application

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Intend to pursue a certificate or degree (AA, AS, AGS, or AAS) at one of the following 13 Colorado community colleges: Arapahoe Community College, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver, Front Range Community College, Lamar Community College, Northeastern Junior College, Morgan Community College, Otero Junior College, Pikes Peak Community College, Pueblo Community College, Red Rocks Community College, Trinidad State Junior College;
  • Be enrolled in at least a half academic load each semester (minimum 6 credit hours);
  • Have achieved an overall high school or college GPA of 2.0 to apply. And, must maintain a 2.5 GPA each semester during the scholarship year;
  • Be a Colorado resident;
  • Complete, and submit to their college, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.ed.gov).
