The Foundation for Colorado Community Colleges was established in 1987 as a public nonprofit organization. It originally supported the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) in securing funding not typically available to state agencies for vital capital development projects. The Foundation was instrumental in the acquisition of land and buildings at the Lowry Campus, Pikes Peak Community College and Arapahoe Community College. Those initial investments have been invaluable to the economic growth of the community.
Since 1987, the Foundation has made great strides in its mission to support the Colorado Community College System. The Foundation is working collaboratively with business, industry, community college presidents, and foundation directors, and the SBCCOE to meet the needs of students and faculty. The Foundation is also developing strategies to meet the workforce needs of the 21st century.
