Colorado Northwestern Community College Fact Sheet


Founded in 1962

Colorado Northwestern Community College has a campus in Rangely and a campus in Craig. In addition, the college offers courses in Meeker, Hayden and Oak Creek. Founded in 1962, CNCC joined the Colorado Community College System in 1999.

President: Ronald Granger

Granger has spent 30+ years in education. After 13 years of teaching/coaching at the high school level he became a professor at Crowder College in Missouri where he later became a dean and ultimately Vice President of Finance. Prior to becoming president of CNCC in July 2012, Granger had served as the Vice President of Administrative Services at Central Wyoming College since 2012. Over his higher ed career, Granger has been instrumental in the design and construction of six buildings. He served on the Missouri Governor’s Task Force for Workforce Development and has worked with the legislature in Wyoming to create a new funding formula for their community colleges. As an educator, Granger has successfully worked on increasing enrollment, retention, and graduation rates. He has also overseen budgets of over $50 million. He received his BS in Business Education from Missouri Southern State University in 1976 and his MS in Educational Administration from Missouri State University in 1991.

Signature/Unique Programs:

While all colleges offer a variety of programs to meet the students’ needs, colleges also develop signature programs. CNCC signature programs include nationally-recognized aviation flight training and dental hygiene. They also include nursing, massage therapy, equine studies and management, National Park Service Academy and others.
