LAKEWOOD, CO – Fine dining will provide much needed scholarship dollars for students at Red Rocks Community College as a result of the 10th annual Red Rocks Community College Foundation Benefit at 240 Union Restaurant in Lakewood on Thursday, April 3, 2014.
Twenty-five percent of all 240 Union lunch and dinner food sales on April 3rd will go to the Swede Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund provides students in financial need with support to reach their educational and career goals. Marvin D. “Swede” Johnson, a former executive at Coors Brewing Company, was instrumental in the creation of the Red Rocks Foundation and served as its first president.
The Red Rocks Community College Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to supporting the students, faculty and staff at the College in their pursuit of excellence. The Red Rocks Community College Foundation was established in 1993 with the vision of helping students of all income levels have access to higher education. Since its inception, the Foundation has given more than 3.7 million dollars in scholarships to students attending Red Rocks Community College. The Foundation also provides mini-grants to faculty and staff, awards for outstanding faculty and support for other worthwhile initiatives. This year, the Foundation will provide more than $200,000 in scholarships to students of Red Rocks Community College.
