College Opportunity Fund

The State of Colorado has always paid a portion of the total cost of higher education for Colorado residents attending Colorado public institutions for their undergraduate degrees. It will continue to do so -- but the process is going to change. You have to sign up for the College Opportunity Fund. You only have to do this once. And you can do it on the Web.

Getting Started at the Colorado Community College System

Admission Requirements
CCCS member colleges are open-door admissions institutions. You will be admitted if you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and have a high school diploma, General Education Development (GED) certificate, or are not in high school and 16 years of age or older and can benefit from our instructional programs and courses

Credit for Prior Learning
Prior learning is college-equivalent education acquired through non-traditional schooling, work or other life experiences. These might include skills from military, job-related training, and volunteer arenas.

Students demonstrate and earn credit for prior learning through such methods as nationalized testing, challenge exams, and portfolio examination.

For more information about how you might gain credit for prior learning, inquire at a Colorado Community College campus you wish to attend.

How to Apply
Apply online to any community college or mail, hand-deliver or fax a completed application form to the college of your choice. Mail-in application forms are available at each main campus, one of the satellite campuses, or in printed catalogs and schedules.

How to Register for Classes
Admitted students may register for classes on-line, over the phone or in person. Class schedules can be found on college websites and in printed format at the college.

International Student Admissions
An international student is in the United States on a nonimmigrant student visa. As a result of federal law, applicants who are residents of other countries have additional documents to submit and testing to complete in order to apply. If you are an International student, locate the international student advisor at the college of your choice, or look for information about international students in the college catalog or on the college website.
