FRCC Receives Largest Individual Gift for Scholarship EndowmentThe family of the late Louis P. Singer has presented a $106,300 endowment for student scholarships to the Front Range Community College Foundation, President Karen Reinertson announced.
Singer was an investment banker and senior partner in Troster, Singer & Company, an over-the-counter securities concern based in New York City. He retired when the company merged with Spear, Leeds & Kellogg.
“The generosity of the Singer family will go a long way toward providing a quality education for FRCC students,” Reinertson said. “The gift comes at a time when colleges are struggling to find adequate financial aid resources to meet a growing need. This donation will be put to good use.”
Singer’s family said he was devoted to the cause of education and fully realized that education is the only means of expanding one’s professional and personal opportunities.
This is the largest individual gift received by the foundation, according to Leah Goss, director of development at FRCC. The award will be called The Louis P. Singer Memorial Scholarship.
